Vendredation Day

The Scone Witch has become too popular. There are now line-ups for the limited amount of tables and I find it, quite frankly, heartbreaking. As a distant Plan B yesterday, I hit Café Zucchero on Queen Street with une amie. The little Italian café has a fairly predictable menu with good prices and a nice ambience that is very roomy and airy. Mon amie’s roasted vegetable salad looked amazing (huge!), and my feta and roasted red peppers on foccacia was quite good. So, if you’re searching for a new place to lunch, as we downtown public servants are always doing, I recommend considering Café Zucchero.

This reviewer really loved it:

If you can make it out tomorrow, head downtown for the Remembrance Day event. I love hitting the procession at about Albert and Elgin and then following the pipers and marchers down to the Memorial. Between the pipes and the planes, it’s truly one of the most emotional days this city has every year. Having lost my grandfather (a very proud RCAF vet) in 2000, I find this event to be one of the most dear to me. And if you can’t make it downtown tomorrow, don’t forget that minute of silence.

Have a great long weekend everyone!

hey lori,
i`ve just read some of your entries, in Nov. and some in Sep too. Very fun. But what is this about a ringworm? And looking at it? And it`s being called Harry? Are you okay, eh?
OH, and i always remember before and afterwards but never during your visits, to thank you for the electric kettle. We use it often – John seems to like hot water a lot. I prefer tea. But there you go – thanks!
take care,
Kim

Lori, friend of Melissa B’s here. Just wanted to chime in and say I love Cafe Zucchero’s! Cheap and tasy, and the couple who own it are nice. I used to work across the street and visited the cafe way too often!
