This page is dedicated to all of those who seek musical inspiration to reach their goals. I’ve now run two half-marathons in the last year and while I had hoped to train for my third – the National Capital Marathon in Ottawa, May 2007, given all of my travel in the months preceding the race, I had to settle for doing the 10K instead. While no strict set of songs is going to get you through an entire training regimen, I personally am excited to mix it up a bit with recommendations from other runners.
I couldn’t help feeling a little exposed writing these out, because goodness knows one’s musical “taste” is always up for judgment. I promise, and hope you will too, not to judge someone for songs they recommend and instead, will take the opportunity to get to know them a bit better. Hey, the way I see it, if I can learn to like Dolly Parton, what else am I missing?

Pingback by fresh fish daily May 28, 2007 @ 1:40 pmLori – excellent initiative! It’s so easy for the playlists to get stale, especially when you’re training a lot…and a few new songs can really help to shake things up. My current faves (old and new) are Last Nite by the Strokes, Rough Gem by island (plus, they’re from Mtl…), Rebellion by the Arcade Fire, Gore Veil by the Deadly Snakes and Dear Confessor by Immaculate Machine. But for a cheater list like Ryan’s, I found a few good tips at bluelines . Happy running!
